My favourite part of any magazine? Recommended reads! I've been a book worm for as long as I can remember. And a try-hard writer. I actually remember the moment my first paragraph of my first dream book came to my mind.
I was laying in my room in the first home we lived in after my parents separated and I started writing my book about a young girl going through what I was. To be honest, I only got a few pages into the story before I gave up. I can't remember why. But I remember the feeling of writing and falling into the story and literally experiencing what I was writing about. I remember the small notebook I used to pen this introductory dance with words.
I'm getting lost in my childhood again... So sorry, I'm back.
But I wanted to share what has been exciting me lately on the book shelf in the hopes that it will inspire you to get back into the magic of the traditional book...
Firstly, lets talk food :
ELSA'S WHOLESOME LIFE by Ellie Bullen
This gorgeous Gold Coast gal has life sorted and if eating the way she does means that I get to travel the world and eat multicoloured spreads on toast that actually nourish me then I'm ALL IN. But in all honesty, this book is as useful as it is gorgeous. The recipes just work and the pictures inspire you to spend time in the kitchen actually caring for what you're preparing. Did I mention - health? All the good vibes coming from here!
THE MIRACLE MORNING by Hal Elrod
In the Gratitude Gang we're always sharing our favourite personal growth books, podcasts and seminars. This read has been a serious hit, with even those of us in the gang who are serial sleepy heads getting excited about getting up at the crack to do our miracle morning. This book promises lots and DELIVERS!
LOVE YOU by Lorna Jane Clarkson
I'm serious when I say this woman is like a different species to all of us. She's literally the founder of active living (hello most awesome claim to fame EVER) and she actually walks her talk, which is not true for all wellness icons. But the most beautiful and inspiring part about Lorna Jane is the heart that goes into all her projects and I am forever flipping through my collection of her books - I have them all - when I want to be reminded that healthy living can be simple, fun and beautiful. No boring sprouts on eco friendly bamboo plates dressed in grey hemp slacks. She takes city hippy to the next level and I adore her for that! Another win from LJC.
THE MAGIC by Rhonda Byrne
I'm not sure if your realise that I am sort of obsessed with all aspects of practicing gratitude. The good, the bad and the confusing. It's all for me. This read is literally magic, thus living up to it's name and I actually incorporate the practices into my Miracle Morning. Talk about multi tasking mindfully?! I will have this book by my bedside for life I believe and I hope you will also.
I would LOVE to know your recent reads. I was speaking to some friends a few weeks ago about starting a virtual book club and due to time restraints, this is as far as I'll go with that intention!
