I would say that asking you this, most likely you would say “yes, I think I’m quite healthy”.
One reason for this is that we all know someone who is quite the opposite of healthy, a friend who’s smoking has aged her ten years ahead of you or a relative who is battling cancer. Being that you’re on my site you’re either working on becoming happier + healthier or you’re about to start.
But I really want to define healthy a little further. Because I’ve seen the girl slogging it at the gym 5 days a week who heads out on the weekend to take party drugs and then have a green juice on Sunday morning. I’ve seen the yogi who spends her time working on her inner self but also eats a ‘junk food vegan’ diet. I’ve seen the corporate babe who is downing green smoothies and bringing bliss balls to work but her mind never leaves the stress of her office.
So I wanted to narrow down my definition of healthy, keeping in mind that this is my personal opinion that I’m hoping will resonate with you but remember if it does, you’re entitled to your own views also!
HEALTH IS
- Healthy bright eyes, shiny hair and a radiant complexion
- Having a good appetite and comfortable digestion of food
- Daily bowel movements
- Energy through out the day
- Having good self esteem and respect for others
- A sense of humour and the ability to laugh hard
- Healthy communication between others and with yourself
- A good memory and clear mind
- Free from anxiety, depression and worry
- A flexible and strong body that you move often
- Being able to see the good in life
If I can tick all of those boxes, I feel like I’m doing pretty well in life. This little list has also given me a way to measure my wellbeing and be able to focus on areas that need a bit of extra attention.
