I live this thing called a Charmed Life. I didn't actually realise there was a name for it, it was just something I did. That is until I was lucky enough to listen to a lecture by Victoria Moran and she explained it perfectly.
The reason I wanted to share this amazing was of living with you all is because of something that happened a few weeks ago. I was down at this little hidden beach with Bo. She was splashing in the tiny waves while I read my book under some shade and I suddenly noticed that there were little butterflies making their way past us. They would come one at a time and they all took the same route, right past us and disappear behind the rocks. It became this beautiful little game with Bo, spotting the next one to come then waving goodbye as they went on their way. It was magical and one of those moments that you wish you could just bottle up and take a sip from when life isn't feeling so special.
I was telling my friend about this incredible day when she made the comment - "Yes, but these things always happen to you, because you're LUCKY".
Now, I've always been called lucky and I love it. But what I've realised over the past few years is that most of the time, it isn't luck. I create my own charmed life. I don't always find good parks because of luck, mostly I just know the spots where there are usually free car parks. I'm not living this blissful existence because of pure luck. I've worked hard on this life, I surround myself with big hearted people who reflect the person I want to be, I've soul searched to find a purpose that aligns with my idea of happiness, I've found my version of bliss and incorporated it into every aspect of my life.
I drink my morning smoothie out of my favourite cup every morning, because it makes me smile.
I sometimes wear my favourite dress around the house, even if I'm not going anywhere.
I only listen to my favourite songs in the car because they make me smile.
I do exercise that I love so I never feel like I'm 'slogging it out' or being 'punished' to get fit.
I take time out each day to do something for myself. Even if it's only 5 minutes to sit on the balcony and stare at the sky.
I don't do, eat, wear, see or partake in anything that doesn't fulfil me in some way.
There are so many other little bits that create a charmed life, but the point is, you create your own version. There is no way that you can read exact guidelines on having that perfect bliss that you envision for yourself, you need to find it in yourself.
